QuTech Gives Back—Supporting Military Families and the Community

QuTech and our employees believe in paying it forward. The company and our staff volunteer time and donate resources to build stronger communities at home, and provide support to our veterans at home and our military serving abroad. In 2015, all QuTech donations, including the annual Holiday Party charity fund, will go toward the U.S. military men and women and their families.

The list below is a sample of where QuTech employees spend their time, talent, and treasure.

  • Toys for Tots

QuTech is proud of its company-wide participation in the annual U. S. Marine Corps Reserve campaign to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December each year. The Marine Corps distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the Washington, DC, metropolitan community.

  • Operation Santa

To make the holidays brighter for our Marines deployed in Afghanistan, QuTech staff donate what most of us might find in our stockings at Christmas—magazines, books, hats, gloves, nuts, gum, etc. Operation Santa ships these holiday packages to our troops, reminding those away from home for the first time and those for whom it has become the norm to be away from friends and family during special times that they are remembered and appreciated by the people whose freedom they protect.

  • Operation Jump Start

QuTech staff donate money, clothing, and their time to this important event to help the soldiers who served in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom transition to civilian careers. Focused on building a wardrobe to help veterans jumpstart their new careers, this annual event gives volunteers the privilege to serve our veterans by organizing the donated clothing onto racks for “shopping” and acting as personal shoppers for veterans of both genders, providing any assistance they might need in selecting their new office attire.

  • DC Central Kitchen

DC Central Kitchen is America’s leader in reducing hunger with recycled food, training unemployed adults for culinary careers, serving healthy school meals, and rebuilding urban food systems through social enterprise. DC Central Kitchen serves 5,000 free, balanced meals a day, distributing them to homeless shelters, transitional homes, and nonprofit organizations. QuTech staff volunteer wherever they are needed—whether that is slicing and dicing vegetables, building meals, or cleaning the kitchen. Volunteers see firsthand how the creative use of resources and their own personal commitment make progress in defeating hunger, poverty, and poor health.

  • Warm Coat Drive

QuTech staff donated warm coats for veterans in need and their families. This drive occurs just before the holidays and the arrival of the winter weather.

  • Vincent de Paul Society (SVdP)

SVdP is committed to assisting the poor and disenfranchised, working in teams of two volunteers with individuals and families at the community level. SVdP provides financial assistance for rent, food, utilities, transportation, and prescriptions and medical care; donations of clothing and household goods and furnishings; assistance with procuring shelter for the homeless; job search assistance to the unemployed; and referrals for spiritual, psychological, and financial counseling.
